Two of our most sought-after wines in one gift pack! Help us celebrate our anniversary with this duo: our Valeriano and our Giuseppina Chardonnay!
Our Valeriano red blend is grown on the Carneros Estate vineyards, which are cooled by proximity to San Pablo Bay and the Pacific Ocean, extending the ripening time and allowing acid levels and herbal character to lend brightness and structure. The vines are planted in the well-drained volcanic soils of this hillside vineyard.
The Chardonnay grapes for our Giuseppina come from our winery estate in Sonoma-Carneros. This is ideal growing conditions for Chardonnay
as the cool marine winds from both the Pacific Ocean and San Pablo Bay temper the summer heat. This extends the growing season enabling our grapes to slowly reach full maturity whilst retaining fresh fruit flavors and vibrant acidity.
Valeriano: Grapes are de-stemmed with minimal crushing. Must is pumped to a temperature controlled stainless steel tank and inoculated with a pure strain of wine yeast to ensure complete and healthy fermentation. Grapes are pressed and the juice is moved to a settling tank. Within a few days, 35% of the wine is racked and moved onto new French oak for 22 months with the balance remaining in neutral cooperage. The wine is racked once more during the course of aging and then moved to a tank for bottling.
Giuseppina: Grapes were hand-picked, de-stemmed and pressed quickly to capture flavor and freshness. The juice was transferred to French oak barrels and a concrete egg for fermentation. The juice was allowed to naturally start fermentation to give it a complex aroma and mouthfeel. The wine benefits from 30% new French oak and was aged for 8 months after fermentation. Malolactic was allowed to enhance the texture and bring a creamy, nutty element to the wine.
